About the Programme

  • The Post Graduate Insolvency Programme (PGIP) is a two-year programme offered by National Law University Delhi. The programme has been developed by academic experts to provide in-depth academic and practical exposure to insolvency and restructuring processes, with an emphasis on real-world application and professional practice.
  • The PGIP programme culminates in two distinct academic and professional outcomes: students receive the PGIP Certification authorised by the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (IBBI), while the Master of Arts (MA) / Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree in Insolvency is awarded separately by National Law University Delhi (NLUD), subject to fulfilment of academic requirements.
  • In accordance with applicable IBBI regulations, successful completion of the PGIP enables eligible candidates to appear for insolvency professional examinations without the requirement of 10 years of prior professional experience. This provides a structured and accelerated academic route for aspiring insolvency professionals.
  • The curriculum combines legal and financial training with practical exposure to insolvency processes. Students develop skills in analysis, decision-making, professional communication, and dispute resolution, while gaining an understanding of ethical and regulatory responsibilities in insolvency practice. The programme is designed to equip graduates to handle complex insolvency matters in professional and institutional settings.
  • Students also have opportunities to learn from insolvency professionals and other stakeholders during the programme, enabling them to gain practical experience, build professional networks, and enhance their employability. From the second year, students undertake internships or other forms of structured professional engagement, allowing them to apply classroom learning to real-world insolvency matters and gain exposure to professional practice. This facilitates a smoother transition into insolvency practice or related professional and institutional roles.
