Masters of Arts (M.A.) in Intellectual Property Law and ManagementMaster of Laws (LL.M.) in Intellectual Property Law and Management
  • Candidates must have completed two bachelor's degrees in succession, including one in the relevant discipline; or
  • An integrated degree programme of five years in the relevant discipline after completing plus two; or
  • An equivalent post-graduate degree in any discipline from a recognized university;
Candidate should have completed LL.B. or an equivalent degree from a recognized University.
In all the above mentioned cases, the candidate must have secured a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate (45% for reserved categories such as SC/ST/Persons with Disability). Admission Process

Indian Nationals:

  • The selection to the Programme for Indian Nationals shall be done through All India Entrance Test (AIET) which shall consist of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) in the order of merit.
  • The Candidates awaiting results for the qualifying examination can also appear for the All India Entrance Test (AIET). However, the eligibility by such candidates shall have to be obtained by the cut-off date, which will be notified along with the Notification of the Entrance Test Result, and in case such candidate is placed in compartment in the year of admission, their admission would be treated as ineligible.

Foreign Nationals:

  • The candidates possessing the citizenship of a country other than India will only be considered under this Category. The candidates who possess citizenship of a country other than India and hold a valid passport shall be eligible to apply under this category.
  • The candidates belonging to Overseas Citizen of India (OCI)/Person of Indian Origin (PIO) category may apply under the OCI/PIO category as well as under the category of Indian students separately (They have to submit the two different application forms i.e. one for India National and another for OCI/PIO category). In case the OCI/PIO candidates apply under the category of Indian National, they have to appear in the All India Entrance Test along with other Indian students.
  • Note:
    • Definition of Foreign Nationals: The candidates who possess citizenship of a country other than India and hold a valid passport of Foreign Country.
    • Definition of Overseas Citizen of India (OCI)/Person of Indian Origin (PIO): as notified by the Govt. of India.
  • The Foreign Nationals are exempted from taking the AIET.
  • The admission of candidates under this category shall be made based on satisfying the prescribed criteria mentioned below:
    Admission Process : (i) Preliminary Screening, (ii) Essay Submission and (iii) Interview (Weightage of components is attributed as: 30:40:30)

    Academic record of Bachelor’s Degree(s) (for the M.A. Programme) or LL.B. or equivalent Degree (for the LL.M. Programme) recognized by UGC/ Association of Indian Universities (AIU) with not less than 50% marks or equivalent grade. All candidates applying under this category shall be required to supply: (a) certified English Translations of all academic documentation submitted under this clause, and (b) a statement certified by the Issuing University explaining the scoring scale/criteria, expressed as a percentage, followed in awarding the overall degree score/cumulative grade point average.Candidates shortlisted by the Admissions Scrutiny Committee shall be required to submit two (02) essays, each of approximately 800-1000 words, on separate topics related to intellectual property law and/or associated fields, constituting stage two of the selection process.Candidates shortlisted by the Admissions Scrutiny Committee shall be required to appear for an interview before a panel of experts, constituting stage three of the selection process.

Officials of CGPDTM:

  • The selection process will include the following stages:
    1. Preliminary Screening - This stage shall include:
      • Verification of compliance with the minimum eligibility criteria.
      • Examination of the academic records of the qualifying degree for the applied programme.
    2. Essay Submission – Each shortlisted candidate shall be required to submit two (02) essays, each of approximately 800-1000 words, on separate topics related to intellectual property IP Law, which shall form stage two of the selection process.
    3. Interview – Candidates shortlisted by the Admissions Scrutiny Committee shall be required to appear for an interview, constituting stage three of the selection process.
