Entrance Test (AIET) Scheme

  • The AIET 2026 for LL.M. programme will have three (3) sections of 100 multiple choice questions for 100 marks in total. The duration of the examination is 120 minutes.
  • The three sections will be:
    1. Section A: English Language (25 questions; 25 marks).
    2. Section B: Analytical, Logical & Legal Reasoning (25 questions; 25 marks).
    3. Section C: Law and Technology (50 questions; 50 marks)
  • Negative marking: There will be Negative Marking in AIET 2026. The criteria for negative marking will be based on the formula 0.25*4=1 that means per wrong answer 0.25 Marks will be deducted. Therefore, four wrong answers will lead to deduction of 1 Mark.
  • If two or more candidates get the same marks at the All India Entrance Test (AIET), their merit will be determined on the basis of higher marks in the section on Law and Technology in the AIET 2026.
  • If the merit is still same, then the candidate senior in age shall get preference. If still there is no change in merit, then computerized draw of lots shall be taken into consideration.

Syllabus for AIET Entrance Exam (LL.M. in Digital Technology, Policy & Governance)

A) English Comprehension & Communication Skills

  1. Reading Comprehension
    1. Ability to read, interpret, and analyze passages on legal and general topics.
    2. Identification of main ideas, themes, and inferences.
  2. Grammar and Vocabulary
    1. Grammar: Parts of speech, verb tenses, active and passive voice, reported speech, punctuation.
    2. Vocabulary: Synonyms, antonyms, idioms, phrases, and legal terminology.
  3. Sentence Correction and Completion
    1. Error identification and correction.
    2. Sentence and paragraph completion exercises.
  4. Writing and Communication Skills
    1. Basics of formal communication: letter writing, email etiquette.
    2. Summarizing, précis writing, and comprehension exercises relevant to professional settings.

B) Analytical, Logical & Legal Reasoning

  1. Analytical & Logical Reasoning
    1. Statement-assumption, statement-conclusion, statement argument evaluations.
    2. Analytical puzzles and arrangements (seating, schedules, classifications).
  2. Deductive and Inductive Reasoning
    1. Syllogisms, logical deductions, logical inconsistencies.
  3. Critical Reasoning
    1. Identification of logical flaws and fallacies.
    2. Argument analysis, strengthening and weakening arguments.
  4. Problem Solving Ability
    1. Data sufficiency, coding-decoding, number series, analogies, logical sequences.
    2. Direction sense and spatial orientation problems (excluding visual reasoning)
  5. Legal Reasoning and Application
    1. Logical application of statutes and precedents.
    2. Hypothetical legal scenarios for analysis and solutions.

C) Law & Technology

  1. General Principles and Concepts in Information Technology
    1. All Concepts and Provisions under the Information Technology Act 2000 & relevant rules including e-commerce, e-contracts, digital signature, cyber offences, intermediary liability, investigation, powers of central government, Digital surveillance, authorities under the I.T. Act 2000
    2. Data Protection Framework in India
    3. Indian Telegraph Act 1885 and Telecommunications Act 2023 and relevant rules
    4. Electronic Evidence & Its Admissibility of Electronic Evidence
  2. Case Law Analysis
    1. Ability to understand judicial reasoning and interpret judgments
    2. Important recent judgments related to all general principles and concepts under Information Technology (as mentioned above)
